Pico software is free to download and use. In return all we ask is that you complete this simple survey. The survey should only take about 30 seconds to complete and the information you provide helps us to keep improving our products.

The oscilloscope contains in addition a signal generator for 2 channels for sine, square, triangular, sawtooth wave forms and different noise spectra in the frequency range from 0 to 20kHz. The signal can be defined by a mathematical formula as well. The signals are available at the speaker output of the sound card. These can be fed back to the oscillocope in order to generate Lissajous figures in the x-y mode.

The signals for the oscilloscope can be internal to the computer (MP3 player, function generator etc.) or from external sources (line-in, microphone). For external sources care has to be taken, not to exceed the voltage range of the inputs. The range is usually only 0.7V !! If higher voltage need to be analyzed, a voltage divider has to be used. Additional protection diodes are recommended in order to avoid any damage to the sound card and to the computer.

An oscilloscope, formerly known as an oscillograph, graphically displays electrical signals and showshow they change over time. Learn more about how an oscilloscopeworks, what they're used for andthe types of oscilloscopes.

An oscilloscope measuresvoltage waves by capturing physical phenomena such as vibrations or temperature, orelectrical phenomena such as current or power with a sensor. The oscilloscope then converts that signal into a waveform and graphically displays it where thehorizontal axis represents time and the vertical axis represents voltage.

There are two main types ofoscilloscopes: analog and digital. Most engineers today use digital oscilloscopes, whichfall into five categories: digital storage oscilloscopes, digital phosphor oscilloscopes, mixed signal oscilloscopes, mixed domain oscilloscopes, and digital sampling oscilloscopes.

Like a mixed signal oscilloscope, a mixed domainoscilloscope measures analog and digital signals, but has built-in spectrum analyzer, allowing engineers to make radio frequency (RF) measurementsas well.

Scientists, engineers, physicists, medical researchers, automotive mechanics, repair technicians andeducators use oscilloscopes to see signals change over time. There is no shortage of applicationsfor this powerful instrument.

Because our oscilloscopes are highly configurable, pricing can vary for each oscilloscope. BitScope Micro is no toy. It works with most BitScope software and it's fully user programmable. Program it in a variety of languages including C/C++, Python and Pascal or integrate it with third party software.

It has buffered and compensated analog inputs electrically compatible with standard oscilloscope probes, built-in waveform and clock generators and a powerful digital signal processor for post-capture data processing.

Any passive probe with 1:1, 10:1 or other attenuation ratio can be used. The MP01 adapter also supports active differential probes, current probes or any other BNC terminated probe or sensor designed for use with a standard oscilloscope.

The waveform and clock generators operate concurrently with the oscilloscope and logic analyzer functions. This means you can use it to drive logic circuits while monitoring the results or use impulse or step functions to evaluate analog system responses. You can vary the waveform parameters in real-time to produce dynamically changing waveforms. For example, create a sweep to measure the frequency response of a system which BitScope Micro can do just as well because...

BitScope Micro is all these test, measurement & data acquisitions systems in one tiny low cost device. Most functions can operate concurrently and like BS10, BitScope Micro is very fast with a frame rate up to 50 Hz driving a digital phosphor display. It may be small and very low cost but works just like a quality stand-alone mixed signal oscilloscope. View waveforms, plots, spectra and more on its smooth flowing real-time display. Even live captured logic data can be viewed this way.

Almost all BitScope software is compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux and Raspberry Pi and a range of other applications are also available for download at no extra cost. Many other options are already available and more software is in development for the entire BitScope range including support for mobile and online.

Starting with an unboxing we show how you can set up and use the software, connect with lab equipment, use the waveform generator to learn about oscilloscopes. You can even see power line hum looks like simply by putting a finger on an oscilloscope probe.

This tool is used to test the Logical Layer, Protocol Layer, and Tunneling functionality of a USB4 Router. This tool takes control over the USB4 Connection Manager and renders all products connected to it unusable. USB4CV should not be installed on an oscilloscope or any system that uses USB as its only form of input from the user.

USB3CV is used to test USB 2.0 devices and USB 3.2 devices. This tool is used to test a USB product's control messaging, descriptors and basic protocol when connected to an xHCI controller. This tool takes control over the USB host controller and renders all products connected to it unusable. USB3CV should not be installed on an oscilloscope or any system that uses USB as its only form of input from the user.

USB20CV is the compliance test tool which evaluates High, Full and Low-speed USB devices for conformance to the USB Device Framework (Chapter 9), Hub device class (Chapter 11), HID class, and OTG specifications. Also included are mass storage class and USB video class specification tests. All USB peripherals and hubs are required to pass the Device Framework tests in order to gain certification. The other tests are mandatory for certification when supported. This tool takes control over the USB host controller and renders all products connected to it unusable. USB2CV should not be installed an oscilloscope or any system that uses USB as its only form of input from the user.

This tool kit contains the Window-based HSETT utility used to initiate test modes on an EHCI host controller. Detailed test procedures for high-speed host, hub and device electrical testing, tailored to common test equipment, can be downloaded here. A USB Electrical Analysis Tool is available separately for download (see USBET below). The procedures for legacy testing can be found in the USB-IF Compliance Program area. This software provided courtesy of Intel Corporation.

USBET20 is a stand-alone electrical signal analysis tool for USB Compliance testing. USBET20 is the official compliance electrical analysis tool that performs pass/fail assessments on signal quality and inrush current data captured from an oscilloscope.

NOTE 1: The only official analysis tool for certifying signal quality and inrush current is USBET20 published by the USB-IF. Some of the approved oscilloscope test solutions use proprietary software to assess signal quality and inrush current events. Please be sure to run captured signal quality and inrush current test data through USBET20 for an official assessment of the measurement.NOTE 2: The USBHSET tool works on Windows 7 and above only.

The following compliance devices are used in conjunction with compliance software to demonstrate USB hub or host compliance. These devices are not designed for use with the windows stack, and are only to be used with host and hub specific tests. Please address host or hub testing questions to usbcompliance.org.

Full Speed Compliance DeviceFirmware requirements are handled through USB30CV software. This is a bus-powered device. The Full Speed Compliance Device is available through the USB-IF here.

If you have read any of my other blog posts you will know I have done a fair few audio-based projects. I have always tested them by plugging in an audio source and then simply listening to the output. This is obviously less than ideal if I want a more accurate picture of how any circuits I build are affecting the audio signal. As I have some more fairly ambitious projects planned, it was time for me to get to grips with the oscilloscope.

Being of a certain age the word oscilloscope immediately conjures up images of a green cathode ray tube, but as I discovered, things have moved on somewhat. Digital versions are now common, including PC based oscilloscopes that connect to your computer via USB, with the PC providing the display and the control interface using installed software. This has the advantage of reducing cost, increasing portability and making it easy to capture traces.

The RS 2205A-20 uses the PicoScope software which is freely downloadable from the PicoScope web site and is available for Mac, Windows, and Linux, including a Raspberry Pi version which means you could easily build a relatively inexpensive standalone oscilloscope.

Once downloaded it is a good idea to install the software before plugging the oscilloscope into your PC if you are running Windows. This way it detects the hardware and installs the USB drivers automatically. Installing on my Windows
